Former UWL Nursing Graduate Sells Luxury Car Collection to Fund UK's First Free Care Homes

London, UK – May 15, 2025, 4:20 PM BST – In a remarkable display of generosity, a former University of West London (UWL) nursing graduate has announced the sale of a prestigious collection of classic and luxury cars to fund the Free Carehomes Campaign. This groundbreaking initiative, pioneered by Interlink Connect, aims to offer comprehensive care services at no cost to those needing respite care or up to a 20% discount for long-term care placements.

This bold move sets a new standard in the UK's approach to adult and children's care, providing relief to families struggling with the rising costs of care services.

A Nurse’s Vision for Accessible Care

The Surrey-based alumnus, who has chosen to remain anonymous, studied nursing at UWL’s Slough Campus. After completing his studies, he dedicated his career to managing care homes, gaining firsthand insight into the challenges faced by care workers and those in need of support.

Motivated by his experiences, he made the extraordinary decision to liquidate his prized car collection to finance the Free Carehomes Campaign.

“My dream when I trained as a nurse was always to create a haven where individuals receive the support they need without the stress of mounting expenses,” he said. “Everyone deserves dignity and quality care, regardless of their financial situation.”

The Car Collection: A Philanthropic Auction

The first batch of the luxury and classic car collection will go on sale starting Friday, 16 May 2025, and features:

  • Classic Rolls Royce – Once owned by the Royal Family in Kuwait

  • Convertible Mercedes SL 500

  • Classic BMW 318i

  • Top-of-the-Range Land Rover Autobiography (under 5 years old)

A Legacy of Giving Back

This initiative comes at a critical time as the UK faces increasing care demands amid an aging population. While government schemes like the £20 million Accelerating Reform Fund aim to innovate in social care, this private initiative from the UWL graduate marks a significant leap forward.

By removing financial barriers and prioritizing holistic, dignified care, the project has the potential to become a national model for future care systems.
